Chef Tristen Epps, a James Beard Award semi-finalist and current competitor on this season of Top Chef, is recognized for his globally influenced cooking and commitment to elevating underrepresented voices in the industry. His passion for food began in childhood, shaped by his travels across Guam, Japan, and the Philippines with his active military mother.
Mentored by Marcus Samuelsson, Tristen Epps became a key figure at Marcus Samuelsson Group, working on projects in New York, London, Sweden, and the Caribbean before taking the helm as Executive Chef of Red Rooster Overtown restaurant in Miami. Under his leadership, the restaurant earned recognition from the Michelin Guide and was named one of Condé Nast Traveler's Top 12 Best New Restaurants in the World.
Tristen went on to run the culinary programming at South Beach's Eden Roc Hotel, where he earned a James Beard Semi-Finalist nomination for Best Chef South in 2024 for his eponymous Ocean Social by Tristen Epps.
